American company Emerson is investing P2 billion to augment its BPO (business process outsourcing operations in Metro Manila, the Philippines over the next few years.

George Mulligan, Emerson Manila Shared Services general manager, said in a news briefing held recently that Emerson, one of the biggest companies in the United States, “is making a significant investment” in Metro Manila and expects to continue operations for many years. Mulligan was referring to Emerson’s new regional office in Cybergate Plaza, Mandaluyong City. The company recently signed a long-term lease contract – which remains in effect until 2024 – for the Cybergate Plaza headquarters.

The Emerson exec said, as quoted in a report published in Manila Standard Today, that the company will be “making a lot of investments in Manila of about P2 billion over the next several years. We approved spending P2 billion just on facilities, just on long-term leases.”

The investment, according to Mulligan, excludes expenses on the company’s human resource development and training programs.

A leading U.S.company, Emerson is a maker of several industrial and consumer products under such brands as Copeland Scroll, Rigid, Rosemount, PlantWeb, Liebert, DeltaV, Leroy-Somer, Ovation, InSinkErator, and Fisher. The company currently has 12,000 employees in the Philippines. 3,225 of those employees are in the shared services industry.
