Sourcefit celebrates World Nature Conservation Day through sustainability

July 28, 2025

In 2023, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) reported that 80% of deforestation is related to the conversion of natural landscapes to crop cultivation and livestock production. Forest destruction leads to the loss of wildlife habitats and the decline of biodiversity. Unsustainable agricultural practices reduce soil fertility, increase soil erosion, pollute water, and further undermine the health and resilience of forest ecosystems.

This July 28, we celebrate World Nature Conservation Day, which was officially established at the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1972. As we celebrate this event, Sourcefit’s goal is to raise awareness of the importance of protecting natural resources.

Sourcefit’s conservation initiatives

Sourcefit takes pride in cultivating environmental goals, policies, and practices in the workplace. Our sustainability strategy includes determining the company’s environmental impact, setting improvement targets, and allocating resources to achieve goals to reduce the organization’s carbon footprint.

We also seek to exert our efforts outside the workplace by promoting conservation and preservation of nature, finding sustainable solutions, and extending knowledge to communities to promote ethical agriculture practices.

Go Beyond

One of Sourcefit Philippines’ successful CSR initiatives is “Go Beyond”, an outreach program launched in 2021 to encourage and educate communities with sustainable practices. Sourcefit’s partnership with a local community in Quezon City, Metro Manila, aims to reduce waste, support local farmers, and promote sustainable lifestyles for the community.

Sourcefit’s GoBeyond team handed out food baskets that contained organic and local fresh produce rather than store-bought items for families to promote reducing our carbon footprint. And with the help of Global Seed Savers (GSS), local farmers also learned the importance of seed-saving for developing food security for future generations.

Soilmate project

Sourcefit Philippines’ most notable CSR initiatives greatly reflect our aim to extend our conservation initiatives. The Soilmate project aligns with the U.N.’s sustainable development goals, which are to achieve a better and more sustainable future.

Over the years, we’ve partnered with local environmental organizations like ABS-CBN Foundation Bantay Kalikasan, Haribon Foundation, and the Philippines’ Million Trees Foundation, Inc. (MTFI) to help with our tree-planting mission to improve environmental health, support sustainable land management practices, and strengthen ecosystems that can prevent further damage from natural disasters.

Carbon footprint initiative

Our goal is to place ourselves as an active, eco-friendly BPO company, not just in words but through concrete actions. We created a Carbon Footprint Quiz that allows employees and individuals to understand the impact of their daily actions on the environment.

Sourcefit actively works to reduce its carbon footprint through various measures, including energy-efficient equipment, double-sided printing, paperless systems, and responsible e-waste disposal.

Sustainability is one of the main advocacies of Sourcefit, and our commitment to making positive environmental changes will continue to grow with the help of our proactive employees and the support of our partners. Join us in making impactful changes for a better, greener future! Learn more about our CSR initiatives here.
