There is significant demand for professionals in Information Technology at Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) hubs all over the Philippines, according to Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) president and chief-executive-officer Benedict Hernandez.
That’s one of the reasons for BPAP’s latest campaign – a new career portal called “Work Abroad. Live Here” which aims to make Filipino job seekers as well as fresh graduates and their parents aware of global IT-BPO career opportunities.
Hernandez said that the career portal (http://www.workabroadlivehere.com), which hopes to generate 1.3 million jobs in the next four years, is part of a bigger campaign to provide information to professionals and graduates who are considering a career in the country’s IT-BPO sector, which has more than twenty functional and vertical segments.
According to Hernandez, the career portal is intended for students, fresh graduates, young professionals, and experienced workers who are interested in working for world-renowned businesses that provide their employees professionally and financially rewarding careers.
“They don’t have to go overseas for great jobs,” Hernandez said. He also mentioned jobs for game developers, animators, IT professionals, financial analysts, software developers, accountants, nurses, doctors and many other professionals.
Citing the fast expanding IT-BPO centers in Davao, Bacolod, Laguna, Iloilo, Batangas, Cavite, Cagayan de Oro, Baguio, Dumaguete and Malolos, which are in need of professionals for jobs in non-voice and voice BPO, Hernandez said that the new portal will include the growing number of IT-BPO job opportunities outside Metro Manila.
Along with the “Work Abroad. Live Here” campaign, BPAP, its member companies and several government agencies hope to also help increase the labor pool size by undertaking initiatives like near-hire training as well as developing and teaching IT-BPO-geared curricula for both private and public schools.
